An actor named John Schneider recently gave an interview to the conservative cable news network One America News Network in which he spoke out against Beyoncé’s move into country music. Schneider, who is best known for his part in “The Dukes of Hazzard,” said that the 32-time Grammy winner was like a dog marking its territory.
There was a stir when Beyoncé’s fans tried to get her new song “Texas Hold ‘Em” played on an Oklahoma country music radio station. People complained that KYKC 100.1 FM should have played the song, so host Alison Steinberg talked to Schneider about it.
Schneider said that pop stars like Beyoncé have taken over country music and are trying to make their mark on the genre. He said these acts don’t realise how complicated and evolved country music is.
Schneider’s words made Beyoncé’s fans very angry, but the singer’s new song has still made a big splash in the country music world. This is Beyoncé’s first time on the country charts; “Texas Hold ‘Em” appeared on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
Even though Schneider gave Beyoncé a harsh review, it’s clear that her country music project is picking up steam. Even though the argument is still going strong, one thing is clear: Beyoncé’s music is breaking down walls and not following the rules of its genre.
